My research interests focus on remote sensing of crop physiology and crop
cultivation to improve cropping system while attaining environmental benefits,
on harnessing remote sensing to improve bioenergy efficiency, and on developing
and consolidating the bridge between researchers and end-users community by
teaching in an adult outreach setting.
The work is conducted on Hard Red Spring (HRS) wheat and involves investigating the use of remote sensing data and other spatial technologies, together with classical agrometeorological data, to estimate crop quantity and quality; specifically wheat protein content and crop default of quality, such as fungus infection spreading. My work shows that for HRS wheat there is a significant linear relationship between four N treatments and the final grain protein content. It's also been demonstrated that remote sensing data can be use to differentiate healthy hard red spring wheat from diseased ones. In the future I would like to model the interaction between environmental factors, crop managements, and physiological crop characteristics, in order to produce predictive data sets on crop quantity and quality, and potential diseased spreading risk maps. |
