Two types of financial assistance are available on a competitive basis. Tuition waivers are offered by the department to cover entire or partial tuition cost, and Graduate Research Assistantships (GRA) are offered by individual faculty members through their research grants. All first year students who meet the minimum admission requirements will be considered for tuition waiver awards. Since the amount of tuition waiver that can be offered by the department is fixed, students who would like to receive tuition waivers are encouraged to apply early. Students are also encouraged to contact individual faculty members for possible GRA opportunities. Continuation of tuition waivers and/or GRAs depends on student academic performance, research progress and funding availability.
